Mayumi Tatsuta is the Executive Creative Director of Michael B. Jordan’s ObsidianWorks, a multicultural creative agency where she leads brand, content, and social campaigns for clients like Target, Nike, Converse, and Spanx.
With over two decades of award-winning experience, Mayumi is a Cannes Lions-recognized creative leader known for building culturally resonant, digitally native, and emotionally intelligent work that drives impact.
Prior to ObsidianWorks, Mayumi served as VP, Creative at global digital agency Jellyfish, where she shaped the LA office’s creative vision and spearheaded global campaigns for Apple TV+ (Cannes Lions winner,) LEGO, and L’Oréal. She also led AI-powered innovation work, including gen video production for Google and smart content automation for Japan Airlines.
Previously, at Cashmere Agency, she helmed Gen-Z and BIPOC-focused campaigns for Dove, SONY, Google, Liquid I.V., and Taco Bell, launching award-winning content series, building new brand platforms, and delivering over 2B impressions in one quarter.
Her past roles include GCD at VaynerMedia, where she led work for JPMorgan Chase, Hulu, and Facebook, and GCD at Grey NY and London, where she launched COVERGIRL’s most successful lipstick campaign, introduced an AR smart makeup app, and led Herbal Essences’ global turnaround.
Mayumi’s work spans beauty, entertainment, tech, and CPG, and has been recognized by Cannes Lions, One Show, Effies, and Ad Age. She has also been a guest lecturer at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Communications.
Outside the agency world, she writes screenplays, produces short films, and is developing a podcast that spotlights BIPOC leadership in business and culture.
